Our Kitchen Design Process
Getting started with the latest NZ kitchen trends
There are six simple steps in achieving your new kitchen inspired by the latest kitchen trends and designs. Read the steps below to see what is involved in each step of our kitchen design process:
Step 1 • Preliminary Design: Kitchen Trends to Inspire
The first step is to book a consultation with one of our designers to establish a preliminary design and specifications for your new kitchen, or if you already have kitchen ideas or a plan in mind, we are happy to price this for you.
We will need some general dimensions of your room showing where the windows and doors are situated. Don’t worry about getting a precise measurement, as one of our team members will visit to complete a detailed site measure upon acceptance of our quote.
We will also need to receive your intended specifications. If you already have specific kitchen ideas for the look and feel of your kitchen, please feel free to bring photographs, magazine clippings, websites, and other sources of inspiration with you.

Step 2 • Pricing your Kitchen
Once you are happy with the preliminary design, we will provide you with a fixed price quote for your new kitchen based on your kitchen ideas and design. Our quotes are detailed and itemised so you can see the cost components that calculate your quote total. If you would prefer, we are happy to quote different options for you, such as the prices of different benchtops or cabinet finishes.
Step 3 • Measurements
After you have accepted our quote, we will make an appointment with you to visit and measure your kitchen area to check the precise measurements of your kitchen to ensure the final design of your kitchen will fit into your home as planned.
Step 4 • Final Design
When you have accepted our quote, one of our designers will meet with you to finalise and sign off your kitchen plans, specifications, and quote. Any new kitchen ideas or significant changes to the preliminary plan will be priced for you accordingly for your approval.
Step 5 • Building: Bringing Your New Kitchen Ideas to Life
Your new kitchen will be built by our local tradesman in our factory, which will take between 4-6 weeks depending on its size, componentry, and end finish. We encourage you to visit our factory to inspect your new kitchen prior to delivery and installation.
Step 6 • Installation
Installation is the final step in our kitchen design process. Your new kitchen will be delivered the day before installation, which will be handled by one of Elite’s professional cabinetmaker installers. Any stone benchtops will need to be templated after the cabinets have been installed to ensure a professional installation and finish. It will then be delivered generally within 7 to 15 working days, depending on the stone selected and its thickness. We can supply a temporary benchtop, which will be plumbed in to allow you to use your kitchen during this period, but please discuss any requirements with your Elite designer during your design process.
Splash-backs
Splashbacks will usually be templated after your benchtop is installed and will be delivered generally within 10-15 days. Any final touches, such as toe-kicks and ceiling scribers, are to be installed when all other works required in your kitchen area, such as flooring work, plumbing, and marking up of sink draws, are complete. We will keep you informed throughout the process as we create one of the most beautiful kitchens in the country for your home.
